Orgullosamente presentamos 'States', el álbum debut de Tremolo Audio para Facade Electronics. Tremolo Audio es uno de los alias de Jorge Verdin (Clorofila, Observador, Nortec Collective, et al). El nuevo trabajo del tijuanense es un ejercicio íntimo y emocional, en donde el músico -y diseñador gráfico- abraza completamente su lado etéreo, minimalista y experimental bajo el contexto sónico que la manipulación y proceso de cintas ofrece.

"Este proyecto nació de mi curiosidad por explorar la cinta magnética y el azar como instrumentos, y también como un ejercicio para distanciarme de la programación de secuencias, o el uso de la retícula musical, recursos de los cuales me he valido a lo largo de mi carrera. Estos ejercicios o experimentos incluyeron tomar samples de mi colección de cintas de 1/4 adquiridas en tianguis o mercados, ya fueran de música orquestal o grabaciones caseras, hasta hacer una variación al método del Cadáver Exquisito…”. La libertad que este proceso le ofrece a Jorge como compositor, se puede apreciar en la duración completa de 'States', creando un manto catártico dividido en nueve estados de ánimo.
"Otra de las razones detrás de la idea de trabajar con cintas como materia prima fue la impredecibilidad y fragilidad del material y proceso en sí. También, el hecho de estar tratando con un medio físico maleable y fácil de intervenir, así como la variedad de la calidad sonora disponible dependiendo de los tiros de la cinta o los dispositivos a mano, que en este caso fueron una grabadora 4-track Tascam Portastudio 424, algunos Walkman y una antigua grabadora de carrete".

En el fondo, los estados de Jorge Verdin se pueden disfrutar como una obra orgánica, concreta y bien aterrizada, en donde las herramientas utilizadas se pueden apreciar con cada escucha. La gama de colores y musicalidad logradas en cada estado hacen de este álbum una obra reveladora en la discografía de Tremolo Audio.

We proudly present 'States', Tremolo Audio's debut album for Facade Electronics. Tremolo Audio is one of Jorge Verdin's music projects (Clorofila, Observador, Nortec Collective…). This new recording is an intimate and emotional exercise in which the musician and graphic designer fully embraces his ethereal, minimalist and experimental side under the sonic context that the manipulation and processing of tapes offers.

"This project was born both from my curiosity to explore magnetic tape manipulation and randomness as instruments, but also as an exercise to distance myself from programming sequences, or the use of the musical grid, resources that I have used throughout of my musical career. This exploration included taking samples from my collection of 1/4 tapes acquired in flea markets, whether they were orchestral music or home recordings, to making a variation on the Exquisite Corpse method..." the freedom that this process offerered Jorge as a composer can be heard in the entire length of 'States', creating a cathartic mantle divided into nine states of mind.
"Another reason behind the idea of working with tape as a raw material was the unpredictability and fragility of the material and process itself. But also the fact that I were dealing with a physical medium that was malleable and easy to intervene on, also, the variety of the sound quality available depending on the of the tape loop or the devices at hand; which in this case was a Tascam Portastudio 424 4-track recorder, some Walkmans and an old reel-to-reel tape recorder."

The states of Tremolo Audio can be enjoyed as a concrete and well-grounded organic work, where the tools used can be appreciated with each listen. The range of colors and musicality achieved in each state make this album a revealing work in Tremolo Audio's discography.

Electronic beats with swatches of synthpop. I am imagining some mid-90s influences shining through in these instrumentals because I am reminded of Chemical Brothers, Groove Armada, and Orbital. Laid back in the slower pieces, but funky when it needs to be. Lionel Valdellon (Acid42)
